Terms of use
Last updated: September 23, 2026
This is the agreement between you and Meant. It is written to be understood on the first read — if any part isn’t clear, write to meant.music2026@gmail.com and we will rewrite it.
What Meant is
Meant gives independent musicians a page of their own, at meantmusic.com/your-address, to host their work and tell the story behind it. Listening doesn’t require an account. Publishing does.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older, or have a parent or legal guardian managing the account.
- The information you give must be true, and keeping your password safe is up to you.
- An artist account represents one artist or musical project. You can also have an account just for listening. Don’t create accounts to pretend to be someone else.
- Each account can have up to 10 songs, counting the ones in albums and the hidden ones. If you need more, write to meant.music2026@gmail.com.
Your work stays yours
You own everything you publish on Meant — songs, texts, lyrics, images. Publishing here transfers none of it to us, and it isn’t exclusive: you can publish the same work wherever and whenever you want.
You give us only the permission the service needs to work: to store your files, show them on your page and play them for whoever opens the link. That permission is free, non-exclusive, and ends when you delete the content or the account.
We don’t use your music in advertising, we don’t license it to anyone, and we don’t give it away to train artificial intelligence models.
What Meant doesn’t do — and won’t
This is here because it is a commitment, not because it hasn’t been built yet:
- We take no commission on anything you earn from your work.
- We don’t distribute to Spotify, Apple Music or any other platform. Meant is not a distributor.
- There is no feed, trending or public scoreboard. The home page is ordered by the proportion of likes to listeners, without showing a number or a position. Your page shows at most an approximate listener band; the exact numbers of your work are for you alone.
- Your work doesn’t expire. Nothing disappears for being “old” or because you spent a while without publishing.
What you can’t publish
- Music that isn’t yours. Meant is for original work: publish what you wrote, alone or with co-writers. Covers aren’t accepted, for now — even when the recording is yours, the song still belongs to whoever wrote it, and Meant doesn’t yet have the licenses that would let us publish it. Public-domain music is fine.
- Music made by artificial intelligence — composed, played or sung by an AI from a prompt. Using tools to record, mix or master is fine: the song itself has to be made by you.
- Illegal content, or content that violates someone else’s rights.
- Content that incites violence or hatred against people or groups.
- Files that aren’t your work — Meant isn’t a general-purpose storage service.
Removal
You can delete whatever you want, whenever you want, from your area at /account. We don’t hold on to your work and we don’t ask you to explain why.
We only remove content when it violates the section above, or when the law requires it. If that happens to something of yours, we tell you and give the reason. If you think we got it wrong, reply to the e-mail — we’ll look again.
Saw something here that breaks these rules? Use the “Report” link at the bottom of any page. It opens an e-mail to us with the page’s address.
Received a copyright infringement notice about content hosted here? Write to meant.music2026@gmail.com.
About the service, without promises we can’t keep
Meant is a new, free project, still being built. It may go offline, have bugs or change. We can’t promise continuous availability, and the service is offered as is.
So, a serious recommendation: keep the original files of your songs with you. Meant is your work’s home, not its safe.
If the project ever has to shut down, we will give notice in advance and time for you to take what is yours.
Closing an account
You can delete your account whenever you want, with the “Delete my account” button at /account/profile, or by writing to meant.music2026@gmail.com. We only close someone’s account for serious or repeated violations of these terms — and, unless the law says otherwise, with notice first.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Relevant changes are announced by e-mail before they take effect. Continuing to use Meant after that means accepting the new version; if you don’t accept it, you can close your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Brazilian law. Any dispute may be brought before the courts of your place of residence.
